Meet the Team Behind Stonewall Resort’s Unforgettable Guest Experiences

Published on June 24, 2026

The People Who Make Stonewall Resort Feel Like Home

Every memorable event has a story. At Stonewall Resort, those stories begin long before guests arrive and continue long after they head home.

Behind every conference, wedding, reunion, and corporate retreat is a team of professionals who thrive on creating seamless experiences. They coordinate countless moving parts, anticipate needs before they arise, and make guests feel like they’ve found more than just a venue—they’ve found a place that genuinely cares.

What makes this team stand out isn’t just their experience. It’s their shared passion for hospitality, their deep West Virginia roots, and their commitment to making every event feel personal.

Let’s Meet the Stonewall Resort Meeting & Events Team

Hospitality Begins with People Who Love What They Do

For Assistant Director of Conference Services Kelli Trumbull, every event is an opportunity to build new relationships.

“One of the things I love about my job is I’m always meeting new people and getting to experience new groups and new just diverse events.”

As someone who oversees conference planners and group events from contract signing through departure, Kelli understands that successful meetings don’t happen by accident. They happen because someone is paying attention to every detail.

That behind-the-scenes coordination often goes unnoticed by guests—and that’s exactly the point. The best hospitality feels effortless because experienced professionals have already solved problems before they become visible.

When she’s not helping guests enjoy a flawless stay, you’ll likely find Kelli tending her garden, another pursuit in which patience, planning, and care produce something beautiful.

Turning Big Dreams Into Reality

Planning a wedding or milestone celebration can feel overwhelming. That’s where Misty Moore, Catering Sales Manager, shines.

“I’m able to get a feeling for the experience that our clients are wanting for their special occasion. I’m able to fit those expectations to our venues…to make their dreams become reality.”

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all package, Misty works to understand each client’s vision first. Whether it’s a lakeside wedding, a family reunion, or an intimate celebration, the goal is simple: create an event that feels uniquely theirs.

Having recently returned to West Virginia after living away, Misty brings renewed appreciation for the state’s charm. Local festivals, farmers’ markets, and family time remind her why so many guests choose the Mountain State for meaningful gatherings.

The Details That Guests Never See

A successful conference depends on hundreds of decisions happening behind the scenes.

For Jalen Sprouse, collaboration is the secret ingredient.

“I work closely with groups and plan their events. I also collaborate with various departments here to ensure every detail is in place and expectations are met.”

From coordinating banquet schedules to ensuring meeting spaces are perfectly prepared, conference planning is equal parts logistics and communication.

Jalen says what makes the role special is simple: “The people.”

That sentiment echoes throughout the team. Great hospitality isn’t just about beautiful facilities. It’s about people working together toward a shared goal of exceeding expectations.

Outside of work, Jalen enjoys reading, crocheting, and soaking in West Virginia’s famous sunsets—a reminder of the scenery many guests travel hundreds of miles to experience.

More Than Two Decades of Watching Stonewall Grow

Few people know Stonewall Resort’s story as well as Shelley Gutta.

Having joined the resort in May 2003, she’s witnessed its evolution firsthand.

“It has truly been a pleasure to help create meetings and events that inspire our guests in this stunning setting surrounded by water, forest, and fresh mountain air.”

Experience brings perspective. Shelley has seen trends in meetings change, technology evolve, and guest expectations rise. Through it all, one constant remains: genuine hospitality.

She credits much of the resort’s success to the people she works alongside.

“I enjoy working alongside our amazing associates who have a genuine sense of hospitality and dedication to help guests elevate every experience.”

When she’s away from work, you’ll find her spending time with family, enjoying spin classes, or taking long walks with her puppy, Stormy.

Every Guest Experience Matters

No two groups are exactly alike.

That’s something Courtney Wheatley embraces every day.

“Every guest is different and I enjoy working with planners and guests to make their stay organized, comfortable, and memorable.”

Creating positive guest experiences isn’t just about solving problems. It’s about recognizing that every organization, family, and event arrives with different goals.

Whether it’s a leadership retreat or a multi-generational reunion, success often comes down to making each guest feel seen and supported.

Away from the resort, Courtney enjoys camping and riding side-by-sides with her family—activities that reflect the outdoor lifestyle many visitors discover during their stay.

A Conference That Feels Like a Vacation

Corporate meetings don’t have to happen inside windowless hotel ballrooms.

Sales Manager Cori Coffman helps organizations discover a different kind of meeting experience.

“What I love most about working at Stonewall Resort is that it feels like I’m on vacation every day.”

Cori partners with clients across healthcare, education, government, manufacturing, energy, and many other industries to create meetings that balance productivity with relaxation.

That balance matters more than ever.

Research continues to show that natural settings can reduce stress, improve creativity, and encourage stronger collaboration. When attendees step outside between sessions to enjoy fresh mountain air and scenic views, conversations often become more meaningful than those happening inside the meeting room.

As Cori explains, the setting transforms expectations.

“It’s rewarding to help clients host events in a setting where attendees can enjoy a true getaway instead of a normal conference experience.”

A Team United by West Virginia Hospitality

Spend a few minutes listening to the Stonewall Resort team, and one theme rises above everything else: people matter.

Their stories are different. Some grew up nearby. Others returned home after years away. Some have been with the resort for decades, while others bring fresh perspectives to the team.

Yet they all share the same mission—to create experiences guests remember long after checkout.

From the first planning call to the final farewell, the Stonewall Resort team works together to make every conference, wedding, reunion, and special event feel effortless.

And perhaps that explains the lighthearted closing remark that perfectly captures the team’s culture.

“Cori, you are a rock star.”

When colleagues celebrate one another as enthusiastically as they celebrate their guests, everyone wins.
